Sun, 26 July 2009 July 26: “NOLA: Four Years After Katrina”Speakers: BuxMont Katrina project volunteers This past winter, several BuxMonters spent a week at the First UU Church of New Orleans volunteering with the New Orleans Rebirth Center, a project started by the UUSC after Hurricane Katrina and run by the city’s three UU congregations. Ruth Aschmann, Elaine Barkan, Yvonne Marlier, Jeanne Phillips, Jane Turkel, and Linda Wisniewski will share their personal stories about the people who survived the storm, the social justice projects they worked on during the week, and how UUs can continue to help in the recovery.
